We share an unforgettable experience in the Petrified Forest. _______ In this episode we visit: The Tower Conoco, a sort of Taj Mahal of Texas gas stations, was built in 1935 when times were hard. Situated at an important intersection of former Route 66 and Highway 83, it would've been the first 'foreign' station encountered by Oklahomans heading west on their famous exodus from the Dust Bowl. Russell’s Travel Center: Truckstop and Travel Center located on historic Route 66, I-40 in eastern New Mexico. Car museum, grocery store, classic diner, subway, and much, much more. Sawmill Market: New Mexico's first food market, curated with local merchants. A Trendy warehouse with an eclectic collection of bars & eateries, plus an expansive courtyard. sawmillmarket.com Petrified Forest: A surprising place, offering far more than the world renowned petrified logs. An American national park in Navajo and Apache counties in northeastern Arizona. Named for its large deposits of petrified wood, the park covers about 346 square miles (900 square kilometers), encompassing semi-desert shrub steppe as well as highly eroded and colorful badlands.
